Editing a Portfolio | Rebecca Simons 

Rebecca Simons, coordinator of the Joop Swart Masterclass at World Press Photo, will deliver a 3-hour long workshop on photography portfolio editing this Chobi Mela. The session is based on her six years of experience as a coordinator of the masterclass and other workshops. Reem Saouma, a freelance project manager for World Press Photo, who is also coordinating the selection of Joop Swart Masterclass this year, will also be attending.

Workshop topics include:

- How one can improve portfolios for Joop Swart Masterclass

- The dos and don’ts of portfolio editing

- What textual information one needs to give

- An editing and sequencing exercise

Rebecca Simons 
Rebecca Simons (1981) was born in Vaasa, Finland and is currently situated in Rotterdam, Holland. In 2004, she got her MFA in photography at Post-St. Joost, Avans University, Breda and in 2012, her MA at Film and Photographic Studies, Leiden University.
 
Since 2009, Rebecca is working at World Press Photo. Currently, she is a Senior Producer and Project Manager. Among other projects, she coordinates the annual Joop Swart Masterclass. She also coordinates international art projects, and has initiated projects like ‘El-Art’, with the goal of integrating entrepreneurial learning in European art schools. In the past, next to freelancing as a photographer, she has worked five years as an educator of photography and new media. For one year, she has also previously coordinated the art and media department YA! - Vocational College of Ostrobothnia in Finland.
 
Reem Saouma 
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Reem Saouma (1983)  lives and works in the Netherlands since 2008. She is a landscape architect by training and has worked in architecture for more than 5 years, in Lebanon and in the Netherlands.
 
Since November 2013, she has been a project manager with World Press Photo. She has coordinated the production process of 'Stories of Change', the book and the online production of the Reporting Change project and organised local events (talks and exhibition) in Cairo and Tunis. On the side, she has also been working on various graphic design projects. She has organised several workshops and training programs, and manages the ongoing success of Beyroutes: a guide to Beirut.
